Tin House Craft Intensive: Writing Towards Liberation (Virtual)
In the Writing Towards Liberation Craft Intensive, participants will learn about the history of writing and storytelling in local, national, and global social justice movements spanning from centuries ago until today. Throughout the workshop, we will explore storytelling’s role in racial, gender, queer, and disability justice. We’ll read, watch, and listen to liberation works in many forms (such as poetry, video games, movies, music, etc.), analyzing the work of writers like Ocean Vuong and Danez Smith, as well as media like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Sinners, and more. Join us in this poetry and fiction-focused workshop where we will utilize generative prompts to start new projects that write towards your own personal liberation and the social liberation of the world at large.
